one-page game (level) design

At first, I was thinking about the games that I used to play when I was younger, 2D platformers to be exact, but I couldn't really recall the level design itself. All that sparks is one particular level named "Hakuna Matata"  in an old game Lion King. I remember it being a pretty huge level compared to other levels, with few enemies here and there that you had to either dodge or jump on them and a big waterfall in the middle of a map.  there were logs constantly falling down the waterfall and you as a player had to jump on them in order to proceed further. I believe something like this should definitely be part of my level.

After playing the demo, I noticed many things, such as smart enemy placement, unreachable places unless you do something, etc.

In order for my level to fit into this game, I believe I could work with the idea of having just a bare *maze* of some sort, with a central hub => waterfall (of some sort), with multiple paths to explore, and in order to reach certain paths, you have to go and unlock something in another path. there could be one entry point directly to the hub, from where the player can go explore individual branches of some sort. After solving simple puzzles, the door opens and the player is free to continue further.

I have something like this in mind. Obviously, the waterfall through the cave doesn't have to be waterfall but rather moving platforms.

Yellow parts => doors to be opened

Blue parts => keys/collectibles/levers or other interactibles

Green => teleportation device

Purple => moving platform (probably will add more, this is just rough idea)

Logs in waterfall might also be swapped for moving platforms, but I will see.
